Skilled Representation Matters In A Civil Appellate Case
If you lost a civil case, it is possible to file an appeal. I am Scott McMillan, founder of The McMillan Law Firm, APC. I have represented countless clients throughout Southern California who didn’t get the result they wanted or deserved. I offer straightforward, honest legal guidance and am here to represent your best interests every step of the way. You can expect professional service in all aspects as well as open communication.
How Does The Process Work?
Appellate cases are sent to the district where the trial court is located. We only have 60 days to file the correct paperwork after a judgment is given. Both sides will get the chance to argue their case and have to answer any questions a judge has. While I will do everything I can to expedite this process, it can take up to 18 months from beginning to end. It can be hard to know when to file an appeal and what your chances are. As your lawyer, I will provide you with an honest assessment. We then can decide together whether or not it is worth pursuing. I will never tell a client to move forward if I don’t think it is a good idea.
