California discovery law is a subset of Calfornia's Code of Civil Procedures. California discovery law contains rules and procedures for determining when and by what means one party to a lawsuit is able to obtain information from an adverse party. For example, if Bob sues Alice, California's discovery law determines when Bob may obtain information from alice and how Bob may go about acquiring that information; e.g., through depositions, written discovery (interrogatories, requests for admission, requests for production of documents), subpoenas, etc.
